THE STUDIO ART PROGRAM (Claudia Goodman-Hough, artist-in-residence)
HOW IS WHAT I AM TEACHING CENTRAL TO THE ARTS? In the Studio, students engage in art as a way to integrate and better understand what they are learning in the classroom. The hands-on art-making curriculum offers multiple entry points into the learning process allow for growth and authentic personal work from students of all abilities. All students practice and acquire good studio habits, skills. They develop fluency in a wide variety of artistic methods, techniques, and tools from many media. Students learn to consider different perspectives and engage in projects with perseverance and focus. Students learn to redefine expectations and outcomes, learn from mistakes and accidents and think critically and creatively.
