What are you teaching? Who are you and your students?

WHAT IS IMPORTANT ABOUT MY STUDENTS AND MY SITUATION?
HOW IS IT OF INTEREST TO ME?

-How do I honor the diversity of my students?

The student population is diverse ethnically, culturally and in ability. There are a significant number of Resource students (students who receive additional learning support from specialists) and TACLE students.

I meet them at the level of their ability and help them explore possibilities and means for self-expression and encourage growth artistically and socially.

Students engage in work that they are willing to participate in whole heartedly, that is authentic and accessible to them.

They are encouraged to take risks with their work, to move beyond their pre-conceived, photographically determined vision of how they look and what their self-portrait 'should' look like. They move beyond their differences in ability and aesthetic vision--what their work  looks like vs. what they see in the mirror.
